Launch campaign: How to make your employee app a success from day one

Your employee app is almost ready and the launch date is set. Have you thought of everything? Here are our five must-haves for any launch campaign:

1. Branding

A bold logo and consistent visual design create brand recognition – after all, you want your app to become a real brand within your company. That’s why it pays to invest in branding that’s both consistent with your corporate design and eye-catching.

This also includes a name for the new employee app. Not sure yet? A naming contest with a prize draw will generate suggestions and get employees actively involved.

2. management communication

Leaders are the first point of contact and role models for their teams, so they play a critical role in the roll-out of an employee app. It is essential to involve them and to provide them with comprehensive information. Whether it’s a sneak preview, a testing period, online training, or a cheat sheet, leaders should be familiar with the app’s functions and have the necessary tools to motivate and support their teams.

3. Info booths

We recommend info booths whenever not all employees are “digital natives”. Personal contact makes it easier especially for skeptical people to ask questions and get a demonstration of the app. Key users can take on a similar function, acting as ambassadors for the app and supporting their colleagues in using it. This builds trust and has a positive effect on user numbers.

4. Info on paper

Where can I find the employee app? On which devices can I use it? How do I log in? Who do I contact if something doesn’t work? It’s good for employees to have this information in black and white! Letters, flyers, postcards, and other offline media can be taken home, read at leisure, and kept. Even though everything will soon be available digitally, we recommend (for the last time) communicating on paper here.

5. Onboarding of new employees

The best time to motivate employees to download and log in to an employee app is when they first join the company. That’s why it should be clearly defined right from the go-live how new colleagues receive their login credentials and who will guide them through their first steps in the employee app.
